The environment is a subject which has grown in importance over recent years, particularly now we are witnessing the impact of industry and life styles on the environment.
Like most businesses, Pike Signals are looking at ways of reducing the environmental impact products have both during their manufacture and operational life.
By adopting designs which provide longer service life, avoiding polluting processes, using recycled and recyclable materials and reducing transportation needs.
In addition to these aims there are two EU directives which encourage companies to improve their environmental impact.
EU Directive 2002/95/EC on the Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic waste (RoHS). It is our desire to meet customer requirements with the respect to the RoHS initiative. We are working to achieve the important objective of making our products compliant through efficient product design that reduces unnecessary waste, the use of recyclable materials throughout and a transfer to lead-free components and solder.
EU Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). Under the EU WEEE Directive, manufacturers of covered electronic equipment are obligated to take back such products at the end of their useful life. Pike Signals Limited is committed to meet or exceed standards in the production of all products and is engaged in a company wide effort towards full compliance with the EU WEEE Directive and as a consequence Pike Signals are registered with a government approved recycling scheme.
We are constantly working within our policy of continual improvement. This has a positive effect on our product range and its performance. Shortly this will be demonstrated by the introduction of a range of environmentally focused equipment which we believe will again, set industry benchmarks.
